WAYS TO STUDY FOR SPELLING TESTS:

Your child should:

1) Find the common link in the lists
(blends, silent letters, long or short vowels, etc.)

2) read the list of words, breaking up the sounds as you go
(ex. chest - "ch... e... st")

3) take a practice test the first night to see which words need work

4) practice oral spelling in the car or in the bathtub!!

5) use the words in sentences to help understand the meaning of each word

6) practice writing any words that are difficult to learn

7) take a written practice test on Thursdays to see if last minute studying is needed
